Course Brief

The short course training on research methodology and proposal writing is offered over a one-week, two-week or four-week period, and it aims to enable participants to formulate a research problem, develop a good research question, and draft a research proposal for funding consideration. Participants receive a certificate upon successful completion of the course.

The course covers the following topics:

  1. Introduction to Research
  2. Types of research methods
  3. Implementation science and stakeholder analysis
  4. Proposal and protocol development – Selection and formulation of a research problem; Criteria for a good research question; Research questions and hypothesis testing; Different parts of the proposal,
    writing proposals including mixed methods; Choosing study design; Estimation of sample size and power, sampling; and Methods.
  5. Validation of research instruments
  6. Evidence appraisal
  7. Design of data collection tools
  8. Ethics and regulation of research
  9. Funding and Grant Writing
  10. Dissemination of research findings
