Course Brief

Course Description

The course covers theoretical and practical aspects of molecular diagnostics.

Trainees are taken through an introduction to qPCR-Detection technologies, Basic PCR, real-time PCR and digital PCR. Applications of qPCR, Comparison of qPCR vs traditional endpoint PCR, detection technologies (SYBR Green I, TaqMan,) Basic data analysis, Relative Quantification and Normalization and Reverse Transcription. Introduction to digital PCR, Comparison of qPCR vs Digital PCR, Digital PCR analysis and statistics, Digital PCR instruments, and Digital PCR applications.

The training will also have hands-on lab training on the detection of a range of clinically relevant pathogens using Real-Time PCR technologies. This includes; viruses, bacteria and parasites. Troubleshooting quality control and quality assurance.

Researchers, scientists, laboratory analysts who are working in clinical /hospital labs who have a background in molecular biology or medical laboratory sciences and interested in gaining laboratory skills in molecular diagnostics.
