The division of financial aid and scholarships was established to provide administration of internal and external financial support for students at the Graduate School. The Office of the Deputy Director, Trainee Welfare primary purpose is to assist students who face academic, financial, or social problems. In this regard, it provides advisory, counselling and guidance services. It does so by liaising with relevant authorities. The office, therefore, makes every effort to assist students to achieve their academic goals and aspirations.

Responsibilities of the Scholarship Division

“>Analyze and evaluate the financial viability of students and families and provides advice and counsel regarding available financial aid opportunities, eligibility requirements, and the application process.

Review and assess eligibility of applications for financial aid.

Along with the application form, applicants must attach:
  * A recent passport photo
  * Copies of all academic certificates and transcripts 
  * Any preceding certificates

Conduct orientations, and entrance and exit interviews, in accordance with KEMRI guidelines.

Respond to inquiries, carry out research and resolve problems related to transactions handled by the unit; serves as liaison with other constituencies in the resolution of day-to-day administrative and operational issues.

Provide information to students, prospective students, and families regarding student financial aid, admissions, account balance, and registration status.

Serves as liaison with governmental and other agencies; keeps abreast of student assistance opportunities and program regulations.

Oversee the collection, management, and reporting of student financial data and develop and implement data management systems and procedures, as appropriate.

Train and serve as an operational resource to other staff and/or students, as appropriate.

Participation in scholarship selection and academic progress appeals.

Provide academic advisement and crisis intervention referrals; arranges for tutorial support, as necessary

Coordinate work study programs by advertising, vetting, allocation, and processing of payments to enable needy students to meet their financial needs.
