The KEMRI Graduate School accepts admission for both local and international students for all the programmes.

Masters Programmes
> Bachelor’s Degree, Second Class (Upper Division) in a relevant field of study or its equivalent from a recognized University OR
> Bachelor’s Degree, Second class Honors (Lower Division), with at least two years post-qualification work experience OR
> Bachelor’s Degree with a Pass and a Postgraduate Diploma in a relevant field of study. Holders of a university degree with research ability least Low-second Class Honors in the respective disciplines or equivalent qualifications plus acceptable evidence of academic work.
Ph.D. Programmes
> Master’s degree in a relevant field of study, from a recognized University.

The University admits students from all nationalities. International students will be required to pay 20% more on all fees except for research expenses.
To apply for admission to KEMRI Graduate School, Download the application forms, and pay the required non-refundable application fees of Kshs. 1,500. Completed application forms and original receipt for the application fee should be returned to the KEMRI Graduate School Building, KEMRI Headquarters, no later than 11th April 2025.
International students are advised to contact the Administrator through graduateschool@kemri.go.ke for assistance in application processing.
Applicants for a master’s degree should have a minimum of an Upper Second-Class Honors degree or equivalent in the relevant discipline. Persons with a lower honors degree but with at least two years of relevant research work experience are also eligible for admission. Applicants for Doctor of Philosophy should have a master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning. The cost for Postgraduate programmes annually is subject to periodic changes, the fees currently are available on the website.

Fill in the form ensuring that all the fields are completed accurately
Along with the application form, applicants must attach:
* A recent passport photo
* Copies of all academic certificates and transcripts
* Any preceding certificates
Once all forms are completed and all necessary documents attached, applicants will proceed to any JKUAT office for payment of admissions fees (KES 1500).
Upon payment, applicants will receive an original receipt from JKUAT, which must be attached to one of the duly filled application forms. The other two copies should have copies of the receipt attached.
Collect:
* The three copies of the form
* The two copies of receipt
* Copy of Photo ID (National ID or Passport)
The completed forms, along with attachments, should be submitted to the Kemri Graduate School (KGS) admissions office.
*** The certificates up to and including secondary school certificate (KCSE)
** Applicants must include a certificate of recognition and equation of their qualifications issued by the Commission for University Education (CUE).
